The other day I was driving home. It was 5:30 and already dark out. I pulled up into our driveway and saw a deer about 10 yards from my car...standing on the side of our house. I was so excited! It's always neat to see deer in our yard. Suddenly, I thought it was walking kind of strange. And I wondered why it wasn't running away. Normally they are very startled by headlights and cars. I turned on my brights and saw...

Ahhhh!!!! It was a mountain lion...standing right in front of me! You can only imagine how big it was if I mistook it for a deer. Here is a picture of a grown man holding a large mountain lion. I found this off the internet. It kind of gives you an idea of how big they can get. The one I saw was slightly smaller but definately bigger than me.
So I stayed trapped in my car and called my Dad on my cellphone to come rescue me. Here's the brave Hero of the Day!

Oh, my goodness! How did he get rid of it?

I think there was a mountain lion near us when we went camping in October, but we were never completely certain.

Yes, exactly. HOW did he rescue you? Please scare them all away before we come visit:-) Maybe Bryce will bring his gun--after all, there will be two more women to protect!

The newspaper had a report that a mountain lion was seen just a few miles from here this week.

Carly and Renee,

He just walked out the front door...and said "if you don't stop bothering my daughter I'll tell the game warden on you!" and when that didn't work he rassled it.

OKAY...actually it walked away into our neighbor's backyard before he came out of the house...but the point is he came out! He could have left me stranded to fend for myself.

Joel- a mountain lion in Nebraska!? Why doesn't that suprize me?

Wow, that would be startling. So...should I bring an arsenal of guns? :)

Bryce,

That's okay my Dad has his bow and he's says it's just as effective.

Andrea,

No. We didn't make a rug:) Although I do like bear rugs.

Wait a minute Seanna:>)
I think Bryce's gun may come very handy if he wants to bring one. I spoke with a local lady who said her husband now Bowhunts with a gun, as he was recently stalked in our area by a mountain lion.
These critters aren't shy when on the prowl.
