Studying my Aleph-Bet

Well, for those of you who are interested and those of you I haven't told, I am currently engaged in studying Hebrew. Actually, Paleo-Hebrew, but I couldn't find a Paleo-Hebrew website to show you how it looks. Because Paleo-Hebrew is pictorial, each letter in the 22 letter alphabet has a picture, symbolism and meaning. It also has an assigned musical note and numerical significance in the Bible. I am enjoying learning Hebrew so much! It gives regular words extra meaning and significance. Just to illustrate this for you:

This is the letter "Aleph". In the Paleo Hebrew it is a picture of an ox. It means strength.
This is the letter "Bet". It would be a picture of a tent. It means "house or home" and symbolizes a dwelling place or "dwelling in".

The Hebrew word for Father is "Abba" or spelled their way "abbA". Reading "Aleph, bet, bet, aleph" it means "Strength of the home". So God is the strength of our home and our Father's are the strength of our home. Isn't that neat? I'm almost finished with my letter study and will be able to move onto whole words soon! I'm so excited.

~Shalom!

Oh, Seanna I love this so much. Abba being the strength of the House. I think of so many verses about the Lord being our strong tower, our refuge and our strength. Thank you for sharing.
