Memorial Day Weekend...What a weekend to remember!
I just returned home after spending a week with the Smith family. The Smith girls threw a tea and I came down a few days early to help with the prep. work. Among those of the Smith clan whom I had not yet met, Mrs. Smith, Bethany, Arman and Yerik (not to mention the dogs and of course "Precious" the lamb) turned out to be better company than I could have even asked for.
The Smiths extended their gracious hospitality to a great number of people which seemed to oodle in and out of the house. I met so many wonderful and interesting families. The house was full of life all weekend long until the rooms themselves seemed to echo with laughter and smiles. What a joy to be among so much Christian fellowship.
Our friends the Vawsers came down to Georgia especially to film for the Garments of Praise video. The Vawser boys Matt and Andy proved themselves to be excellent fiddle players as well as being gifted in mandolin and banjo. After a special request (and we won't say from who...ahem...) the boys were convinced to play my favorite "Dooley" and it soon became a hit with everyone else as well.
What a riotous weekend, between playing softball in the backyard (while the guys ran around in BDU's with guns), dressing up in silk dupioni for the ladies tea, staying up until 4am rehashing old Andy Griffith/Red Green re-runs, dancing the Virginia Reel in the pole barn until midnight, climbing (or should I say slipping) up and down Stone Mountain in the rain and singing endless refrains of "Dooley" ... well what can I say? I enjoyed myself immensely!
